頼む is "to ask for" or "to request." This word is to rely on or to trust or to depend on. You know it is this word because it is rude to rely on your friends, but you are anyways.
The reading is a bit different from 頼む, however. It's たよ, because you go to rely on your friends so much they become tiyored (たよ). They say "tired" like that, for some reason.

I've been wondering if I should rely on him.
