To Escape
To Flee, To Break Out
する verb
You escape and run the hell out of there. Basically, you're trying to escape, to flee, or to break out. Pretty simple.
脱走する specifically refers to escaping from a controlled or confined environment, like escaping from prison, a military base, or a guarded facility.
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well. The だつ changes to だっ, though, so be careful of that.
