This word is used to politely describe an elderly person, as in 年配の方 or 年配者.
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well. The はい goes to a ぱい, because… elderly persons love pie (ぱい), right?
